Curious Holds Saturday Drawing Classes

Palestine’s popular arts/science museum, is offering 3 drawing classes for adults in conjunction with its Texas Heroes art exhibit that features works by well-known local artist Janet Staples.

To be held on October 28, and November 11 and 18, these classes will be taught by Pat Rainey, an art educator with over 35 years’ experience. Ms. Rainey is known for her ability to help beginners succeed and advanced students further refine their skills. She will be joined on Saturday, November 11, by exhibit artist, Janet Staples, who will share with participants her techniques and how to develop skills from the ground up.

Prices for each class are $12 for non-members and $8 for members. A minimum of 3 participants is required for each class to “make”. The classes are available as a package of 3 at $32 for non-members and $21 for members. Reservations and pre-payment is required. The Texas Heroes exhibit is on loan from the Texas Oil and Gas Association in Austin, TX. It will be on view at Curious October 26 – December 30, 2017. Other exhibit programming includes a Family Day on Saturday, December 9, from 10 am – 3 pm and a Gallery Talk on Thursday, November 8, at 5:30 pm.

Curious is an exciting hands-on exhibit designed for individuals and families, for anyone who has ever been curious. It engages preschoolers through adults in a fun, exciting, and, ultimately, educational experience. It is located at 1301 S. Royall in Palestine.

It is open to the public on Saturdays from 10 am – 3 pm. For weekday visits, reservations can be made on the Curious website or by emailing curious.imagine@gmail.com. For an hour’s visit, a minimum of 6 visitors ages 3 and up is needed. Reservations can be added to others’ request visits, so check the website for information on how to combine reservations. Admission is $5/person for ages 3 and older. Ages two and younger are free.
